KEYNOTE Never has more been asked of supply chains. Linda Venables, Chief Supply Chain Officer, PwC Australia
Tactically, we, supply chains, are required to simultaneously manage legacy Covid impacts, repair customer trust, face scrutiny across every aspect of our cost base and build ‘supply chain resilience’. Strategically we are facing an uncertain future and yet required to drive multiple, simultaneous transformations. In this presentation, Linda will examine a number of the current drivers of uncertainty and how they relate to the supply chain. She will offer a pragmatic view of how to build resilience across the end-to-end supply chain and how we can contemplate the future and make decisions in a volatile, uncertain, complex, ambiguous world.

GUEST KEYNOTE Think, Decide and Act to Leverage Transformational Change David Platt, Director, Resilient Futures
In the era of transformational change, the systems, structures, and processes that served organisations well to this point are breaking down. These breakdowns are appearing as disruptions to supply chains, ways of working, people, customers, the value of products and services, the underlying business and operating models that we have relied on and more. Despite these challenges, this era represents a significant opportunity for those organisations who know how to leverage disruptive change and existential risk for those who do not. This opening keynote will reveal how you, regardless of your role and responsibilities, can immediately start to think differently, make powerful decisions, and take actions that will set your organisation up for success by leveraging inevitable disruptive change.

Getting to net zero at least cost, not any cost, must be the driver of our transformation. Andrew Richards, Chief Executive Officer at Energy Users Association of Australia
The need to move to a net zero energy system is not in question. However, despite the urgency and likely future benefits we must stay focussed on a least cost approach. Large industrial and commercial energy users are making headway in transforming their operations, but challenges remain, especially for those reliant on gas as a feedstock. In the drive to net zero, a focus on least-cost abatement that supports the transformation of large commercial and industrial companies - the companies that make everyday essentials, the goods and services relied upon by all Australians, will be critical to ensuring the best path for our energy transition. CEO of the Energy Users’ Association, Andrew Richards, will share the key issues that challenge his members in their push to drive down emissions and the realities of the path to net zero, the opportunities that the future will bring if we can get the balance to decarbonisation right, along with the critical next steps that large C&I are working towards.

In mid-2024, the export of recovered paper and paper products will be regulated by a licensing regime. The Government is currently running a consultation process as it prepares the rules. This is an important phase in the evolution of the industry, with more than one million tonnes of exports every year, on top of the recovered paper consumed in Australia. Here from the government directly, from major collectors and exporters and the local processors as they sort through the options to ensure fibre’s circular economy remains alive and well.
