Virtual Course
Paper Performance and Testing Fundamentals

Appita’s Virtual Classroom combines e-learning with virtual facilitated workshops that are designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice..

  • Learning is delivered in ‘bite size units’ with clear learning objectives.
  • Access to e-learning modules and resources prior to commencement of each topics.
  • Interactive facilitated workshops delivered by our subject matter expert/s that are designed on scenario and problem-based training models
  • Participate from your home or office
  • Participants receive a certification on completion of the course.

Course Overview

  • Multi-week Course
  • Online Modules: 5.5 hours
  • Virtual Facilitated Workshops: 6 hours

Paper Performance and Testing Fundamentals is a mid-level course consisting of on-line modules aimed at providing an overview of paper and paperboard testing methods and the paper performance they describe.

The course consists of 10 modules, 4 real time workshops and a final assessment. Each module video is 20-30 minutes in duration and is designed to review test methods by product and application.

You can view the online modules any time prior to each workshop or join one of the scheduled screenings which will give you the opportunity to post any questions before the scheduled workshop.

Who Should Attend

This course will be valuable for those who need a broad understanding of paper performance and the testing needed to control and maintain paper quality.

What You Will Learn

  • Basics of paper property development and properties.
  • The difference between simulation and material testing and how a chosen test relates to paper properties.
  • The suitable selection of test methods to match the product and performance requirements of different paper grades.
  • The importance of employing standardised test methods.
  • How test methods relate to desired paper performance.
  • Understanding the limitations and challenges brought by commonly used test methods
