Tech Talk Notes

Tech Talk Notes, a bi-monthly newsletter from Appita, is specifically designed for operators and maintenance personnel at the mill sites.  Tech Talk Notes provides, practical, problem-solving information that will assist manufacturing personnel to become better equipped when dealing with everyday problems that they may encounter at the mill site.

Filled with practical papermaking advice, each issue of Tech Talk will touch on operations, troubleshooting, reliability and maintenance, and safety.  This is an exciting new initiative of the Appita Suppliers Committee and the first publication for Appita that is dedicated to personnel at the coal face of pulp and paper manufacturing operations. 

The development of this bi-monthly publication further emphasises Appita’s mission to facilitate the interchange of information and advance the technological capability and expertise of the Australian and New Zealand Pulp and Paper Industry.


Appita is inviting suppliers and mill personnel to share their knowledge on best practice techniques to drive efficiency and productivity improvements in pulp and paper production.

Submissions are invited on the following subjects:

Tech Talk Note Submission requirements:

  • Microsoft Word Format
  • Introduction – no more than 100 words
  • Maximum 400 words
  • Company Logo (high res min 300 dpi)
  • Company email
  •  Author name
  • Images must be high res (min 300 dpi)

For companies wishing to advertise in Appita Tech Talk Notes the following submission requirements apply:

  • No advertisement will be accepted unless accompanied by a tech talk note
  • All advertising costs will be invoiced accordingly
  • All digital colour and grayscale artwork must be supplied at 300 dpi.  Line art must be supplied at 600 dpi.  High-res PDF, EPS, TIFF and JPEG files are accepted.  Images from the web are not suitable for printing.   All colour artwork must be CMYK mode.  RGB mode artwork is not accepted and if supplied will be converted to CMYK mode, which will result in colour shift.  All screen and printer fonts as well as linked images must be supplied if not embedded in the file.
  • Appita reserves the right to refuse any advertisement which is deemed unsuitable for inclusion in the Appita Tech Talk Notes because of wording, artwork or content not in keeping with the objectives of Appita.

Advertising Rates – Appita Corporate Members will receive a 20% discount when placing direct or 10% discount when advertising through a recognised agency.
