Senior Process Technology Engineer- Power Recovery

The Position

The Chemical Recovery and Power Operations are the heart of the Maryvale site providing economic viability and sustainability to our other operations. By supplying quality chemicals to the pulping process, while also producing steam and electricity for paper machine operations.

Technical process expertise is a key element to the success of our business. We recognise the need to acquire additional personnel to strengthen the technical skills available for the Chemical Recovery and Power operations team. In addition there is also increased demand for these skills – due to significant planned investment in this area of the business.

We are committed to ensuring high quality training and development of our technical personnel from industry experts.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivering process solutions in relation to environmental compliance, liquor cycle chemistry, production bottlenecks and process efficiency. There would be wide exposure to all aspects of chemical engineering unit operations in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Provide information and advice to achieve Power Recovery group goals.

  • Provide project scope and design for capital expenditure projects.

  • Contribute, manage and lead continuous improvement projects to achieve successful outcomes.

  • Provide process engineering expertise across the wide area of Power Recovery unit operations, including recovery boiler, water filtration, boiler water treatment, power generation, black liquor evaporation, Causticising, lime kiln and effluent treatment operations.

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will hold tertiary qualification in Engineering or related Science with a minimum of 5 years’ post graduate work experience preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment or related field.

Possessing a passion for learning new things and exceptional problem-solving skills specifically related to a complex process environment, are essential to be successful in the role. Working autonomously within a team environment your ability to demonstrate ingenuity, commitment and sound technical leadership skills will be highly regarded.
