Short Courses New Zealand

This one day course is designed for people who are new to the pulp and paper industry and who want to know the basics of how pulp and paper is made and what the products are used for. It is also highly recommended for people working in non -manufacturing roles in the industry, such as forestry, wood-chipping, administration, sales, marketing, IT and suppliers, who need to understand more about the processes, products and their applications

The course will expose participants to the parts and processes involved – the tree, pulp, paper and end products, with particular focus on the New Zealand Industry. Various unit processes will be covered in sufficient detail to provide a good understanding of pulp and paper making and the properties and uses of paper. The course includes two practical sessions during which various types of paper are physically examined and handsheets will be made.

PRESENTERS: The course will be presented by Paul Robilliard, Beca AMEC and Andrew McKenzie, Oji Fibre Solutions Kinleith
