Personal Online Subscriptions

  • Online access is provided on a calendar year basis, terminating on 31 December each year.
  • Online access is by user name and password, provided when you subscribe.
  • Individuals must not share their allocated user name and password.
  • The individual must take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorised use of the allocated user name and password.
  • Only one concurrent session is allowed with the allocated user name and password.
  • Personal subscriptions are for individual use only and are not to be accessed by an organisation for professional use, education or research. Purchase of an institutional subscription covers this type of use.
  • Subscribers may download and store papers for personal use only. Please refer to Appita Terms & Conditions.

Institutional Online Subscriptions

  • An Institutional Online Subscription allows online access from maximum five (5) IP addresses at a single location.
  • All institutional subscriptions include access to back issues from Volume 1 (1947), as well as perpetual archive access to the year(s) of subscription.
  • Online access for institutional subscribers is by IP authentication.
  • Subscribers may download and store papers for personal use only. Please refer to Appita Terms & Conditions.
  • If your institution has more than one site, you must purchase a multi-campus licence.

Institutional Online Site Licence

  • An Institutional Online Site License allows online access from multiple IP address ranges at a single location.
  • Appita defines a site (location) as being within one metropolitan boundary i.e. within a city. Therefore if all your institution's buildings are within one city,  then that is classified as a single site. For multiple cities a Multisite Licence would apply.
  • All institutional subscriptions include access to back issues from Volume 1 (1947), as well as perpetual archive access to the year(s) of subscription.

Access to Appita Magazine & Journal Archives

If a subscription lapses, Appita will provide customers with access to material for the years in which they held an online subscription. The material will be accessed either from the Appita server or from a third party server or by downloading electronic files to the institution´s server.

Access for Remote Users

The following conditions apply to home use and distance education courses at institutions:

  • Remote access is permitted to permanent and visiting staff and students connected via a modem to the institution´s registered IP addresses.
  • Remote access is not permitted from more than one site or campus of a multi-campus institution unless a multi-campus licence is negotiated with Appita.
  • Remote access to, and sharing of the online resource with members of any type of regional consortium is not permitted without prior negotiation with Appita Inc.

Authorised Access for Individuals

Individuals have the following access privileges:

  • Individuals must not share their allocated user name and password.
  • Only one concurrent session is allowed with the allocated user name and password.
  • The individual must take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorised use of the allocated user name and password.

Authorised Access for Institutions

Institutions have the following access privileges:

  • Access is granted to permanent or visiting staff, students and walk-in users of the institution´s library and computer networks.
  • The institution must take reasonable measures to prevent unauthorised use of its IP addresses.

Interlibrary Loans

Retransmission or networking of online versions of material obtained from this site is strictly prohibited. Interlibrary loans of paper versions of material obtained from this site are permitted in accordance with the Australian Copyright Act 1968.

Fair Use

The following conditions apply to the use of digital content on the Appita site:

  • Authorised users may access material to download and print single copies of individual articles or parts of content for personal, non-commercial use and research.
  • Multiple print copies can be made only under special permission from Appita Inc or under licence from an authorised copyright-collecting society, including Copyright Agency Limited (Australia), subject to the payment of applicable fees.
  • Retransmission, caching or networking of online versions is strictly prohibited.
