Jim Manolios, Papyrus Bio Innovations
Jim holds a BSc from Monash University and has worked in the invitro diagnostics industry for
some 38 years. In that time he has been involved in the transformation of Pathology testing
laboratories from test tubes and Bunsen burners to full laboratory automation. Jim has designed
and established 5 diagnostics production facilities, 2 overseas and 3 in Australia incorporating
R&D, instrument production, automated consumable production, software, service and support.
Jim has participated in two ARC Linkage grants with BioPRIA and as a research adjunct has
assisted more than 10 PhD students with their projects. Throughout his career Jim has has
been driven to develop products yielding better laboratory and patient outcomes by developing
innovative diagnostic platforms. Jim holds several patents in diagnostics ranging from integrated
blood products transport, monitoring and delivery systems to rapid ‘use anywhere’ test platforms
and the use of lasers in diagnostic tests and drug delivery systems.
