A biodegradable foam made from forestry residues has moved into pilot-scale production in Canada through a partnership between the University of British Columbia and the Wet'suwet'en First Nation. The material uses forestry residues including sawdust, shavings and other wood waste to create a lightweight alternative to conventional plastic foams for packaging and potentially building applications.
