Dr. Kelly Wade is a materials scientist working in the bioproducts and packaging team at Scion. He has a background in understanding how biomaterials respond to mechanical and environmental factors under both short and long-term loading conditions, and how their complex, multi-scale structures influence this behaviour. He manages the WHITE room, an internationally unique facility designed to replicate the effects of humidity and temperature on boxes under stress in the chilled distribution chain. He applies his knowledge of biomaterials and structure-function relationships to packaging to develop new packaging systems and better understand performance requirements through modelling and testing.
