In his role at Scion, Alec has hands-on knowledge of working with New Zealand companies to create, manufacture and use bioproducts. Working towards a circular bioeconomy, his team use synthetic biology and other tools to replace petrochemical products with more sustainable solutions.

Eva holds a degree in chemical engineering. She is an expert in regulatory food packaging compliance and has established enduring partnerships with Chinese and European experts (including academia, consultancies, and industry). She is a member of the Australasian Pulp and Paper Technical Association (Appita) Committee on Food Contact Materials since its establishment in 2017.

As the current General Manager of Western Michigan’s prestigious Paper Pilot Plants, Lon has the lead role in marketing, business development, strategy, and P/L management for the business.  His background in specialty papers (Crown Vantage), coated recycled board (Graphic Packaging), integrated packaging (Sonoco), and natural binders (Tate & Lyle) prepared him well to tackle the wide variety of projects that come through the door at WMU. 

Garth has been employed at Scion for 33 years and has been managing the commercial pulp and paper testing services since 2012. He is an expert in commercial fibre-based testing and corrugated board and packaging research and has built strong relationships with both external companies and other research institutes.

Marie Geissler works at the Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS)(Germany). Her areas of expertise include recyclability evaluation of paper products within the scope of customer projects, test assignments and various research projects. Marie is a technical adviser in the 4Evergreen initiative, a European cross-industry alliance of over 100 members representing the entire lifecycle of fibre-based packaging. Additionally, she is experienced in designing and implementing recycling and recovered paper workshops.
