Lauren Wood Environment Manager, Opal Australian Paper, Australia

Lauren started her career with Australian Paper as a Paper Machine Process Engineer after completing a Batchelor of Science Degree with Monash University.

After 5 years, her passion for the environment led her to a new career as an Environment Protection Officer and Client Relationship Manager with the Victorian Environment Protection Authority.

In 2011 Lauren moved back to Australian Paper to take up a position within the Environment Team at the Maryvale Manufacturing Facility.

After a number of years in roles in the Environment Team and as an Improvement Manager at the site, at the beginning of 2019 she took up the role of site Environment Manager – overseeing Environmental Compliance for a site that employs over 850 people, and produces over 600,000 Tonnes of pulp and paper per year.

Lauren is passionate about environmental improvement and leveraging her role within a large manufacturing organisation to drive positive change in environmental performance and compliance. She is also a strong supporter of gender equality in the workplace and is a firm believer that we need to see more women in leadership roles within the industry.
